there is too much talent on that team to not make the playoffs or to rule them out at this point. yea maybe they wont end up making the playoffs but they will be in the race right down to the end. should zambrano have gone off like this, eh probly not by any means, but there is reason for a lot of optimism.

I really like Zambrano as a player, but the guy is kind of nuts. Having said that, I don't really take to heart anything this guy says. I think the Cubs will be in the hunt, but a guarantee for any measure of success at this point means nothing.

The Cubs will win the division, because, lets face it, nobody bothered to get much better. The Brewers are the best team in this division...in 2008. They need a lot of their younger players to develop, get at bats, and they need to pray Ben Sheets will stay healthy, and we all know that isn't happening. The Cardinals have the exact opposite problem. They are getting worse because of their age. Edmunds and Rolen are getting old and their numbers are declining. The Reds and Pirates aren't gonna make much noise.

Or the number of wins he's gonna get this year I'm puttin the over/under at 17 and takin the over. Who cares what he does off the field, the guy is a gamer and produces.

Who cares what he does off the field, the guy is a gamer and produces. Most of his antics are actually on the field really. He's so emotional out there on the mound.

But the point is he produces. Some guys are emotional like that, it's part of his competitive fire. The fact is, every time he walks out onto the mound, you think you are gonna win. The last three years he has averaged 15 wins, all three years with an ERA under 3.5 and all three years throwing more than 200 innings. He's durable, goes deep into ball games, and pitches lights out. I personally am ok wiht him getting a little jacked up and outta control on the mound if he's producing like that.
